I offer my sincere condolences on Joe's passing. He was such an outstanding man and a great humanitarian. I will never forget his kindness when he offered to drive me to an Occupational Health and Safety Conference that was being held in Windsor. He insisted on picking me up at my house and delivering me right home, and he was such wonderful company. I also enjoyed talking to Joe when he came in to the London Food Co-op to do his shopping. He always had something meaningful or amusing to talk about. He will be missed. I just made a contribution to Greenpeace Canada in his memory, as I know that was one of his favorite causes.
Sincerely,
Helen Riordon

Professor Joe Cummins was an inspiration to many citizen activists who care about their neighbours, our cities, our air, our land and the health of our rivers.
Joe never failed to assist a worthy cause when asked and will be missed by all who knew him. We have lost a fearless defender of our environment and a gentleman.
Heartfelt condolences to Joe's family.

On behalf of Sierra Club USA, I thank this renegade scientist for his meticulous research linking the honeybee demise with neonicotine coated crops. It was the seed that started Sierra Club's Pollinator Protection Campaign. Since, Sierra Club has been following Dr Cummins' footsteps, rocking the boat for environmental justice.

My sympathy to the family and friends of "Mighty Joe". Our community has lost a dedicated activist who has left us all a healthier environment and increased our awareness on so many critical issues. Joe was an engaged intellectual who generously gave of his time and his ideas well beyond the university campus. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and admired him. May he rest in peace, sincerely, Jamelie Hassan

I am saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I was honoured when he agreed to write an essay on one of my photographic/garden installations for the Museum London publication Ron Benner Gardens of a Colonial Present. It was my favourite essay. Environmental activists from around the world have lost a true scientific ethicist. I will endeavor to carry on his work through my own work. Ron.
