Obituary of William Zierhofer

William Zierhofer "William of Vienna" May 22, 1931-September 3, 2011 With deep sorrow, we announce the loss of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. After a courageous battle with cancer, William died peacefully. Survived by wife Susanne, children Sylvia Showler (Gavin), White Rock, BC; Gabriela, Vienna, Austria; Sonya Kwiatkowski (Chris), Huntsville; and Peter, London; grandchildren Andre, Nicole, Daniela, Sarah, Jessica, Ben, Frances and 4 great grand-children. William and his young family arrived in London from their native Vienna in 1957. After managing the Elizabeth Arden Salon, he launched the William of Vienna Beauty Salons, continuing in the hair replacement business until within weeks of his death. William was a painter, and well-known photo-artist, with works displayed in Canada and Europe. He published two books: Times of London Pictorial Essay for the city's 150th anniversary, and Roots: Vienna and Lower Austria, both archived in the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. His zest for life, enthusiasm for sports and travel, and positive outlook were inspiring to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Visitation 2:00 pm, Memorial Service 3:00 pm at John T.
