Obituary of Anna Haasen

HAASEN (nee deHaart), Anna - born August 6, 1926. Under a spectacular rainbow that coloured the evening sky, Anna Haasen passed away peacefully on July 2, 2011 at 9:35 p.m. in her 85th year, with her husband and all of her children at her side. A wonderful Wife, Mom and "Oma", the way in which Anna lived her life was an inspiration to all of us who grew close to her - first and foremost by her strength in character. Born in the Netherlands into a large family of humble means, Anna's accomplishments were many. After marrying Marinus, her loving husband of 58 years, Anna moved to Canada to give a 'better life' to her yet-to-be born children. A pillar in the community, Anna gave many hours of her time to various charitable causes including the Catholic Church. Many have been touched by this Matriarch; proud, devoted, intelligent, honest, generous with a very playful sense of humour. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends, especially her beloved husband Marinus; her children John, Rosemary, Bernice and Marvin, their spouses Ellen, David, Pierre and Caralynn; and her grandchildren Katrina, Anna, Jessica, Colin, Jacqui, Lauryn, Luke and Corinne. She has now joined her predeceased son Henry in Heaven and will continue to watch over us. We will be celebrating Anna's life at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6th at St. Patrick's Church (377 Oakland Ave, London, Ont.). Visitations will be held on Tuesday July 5th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donohue Funeral Home (362 Waterloo Street), with prayers at 3:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations "in memory of Anna Haasen" to McCormick Home, Life Enrichment Program.
