Obituary of Jannigje Gargarella
GARGARELLA, Jannigje (Jan)
Born in Numansdorp, Netherlands on Christmas Eve, 1942. Passed away peacefully in the company of her husband and just after the arrival of her two sons on January 11, 2011 at Parkwood Hospital at the age of 68, after a dignified and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Treasured and deeply loved wife of Mario for over 45 years. Beloved and adored mother to Carmine and his wife Diane, and John and his wife Michelle, of London. Devoted and cherished Nana to her grandchildren Emily, Benjamin, Luke and Logan Gargarella. Dearest sister to John Boender and his wife Donna and the late Lena Hoefman (the late John). Loved daughter of the late Arie and Willemyntje Boender. Fondly remembered by her brothers-in-law Franco Gargarella and his wife Barbara in Italy and the late Anthony Gargarella and his wife Guiseppina in Toronto. Her calm spirit and her devotion to her sons and their families will be forever held close to their hearts. She has left us a legacy of strength, perseverance, stubbornness, humor, but above all else, love. The Gargarella family would like to extend their deepest thanks to her dear friends Jean, Carmella and Marg as well as the nurses and doctors of Parkwood Hospital-Palliative Care for the true compassion and care they showed to Jan in her last days. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 o'clock. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street at King Street on Friday morning, January 14, 2011 at 11 o'clock. Prayers Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
