Obituary of Rita Cecilia O'Leary

CWL crest O'Leary, Rita, Cecilia (n.Morkin) - Passed away on Wednesday, August 11th, 2010 in her 82nd year, surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born to Jack and Emma (Dot) Morkin in Claresholm Alberta on July 2, 1929. She was the beloved wife of Hugh (2004) who she married in 1952 and they made a home in London to raise their family. Rita was the much loved mother of Patrick (2005); Maureen (Tom Pickard); Dan; Shelagh (Andrea Ongaro). Proud Grandmother of Dan, Brent, James, Shawn, Christopher, Samantha, Carleigh, Sarah, Ryan and Zachary. Sister of Regis/Pat Morkin,(both deceased) Gerard/Josephine Morkin, (both deceased), Hugh Morkin (deceased), Tom/ Helen Morkin (deceased), Mary (deceased)/Joe Corbett, Josephine/ Edward Scott. Sister-in-law to Madeline/Mike Costello (both deceased), Leonard (deceased)/ Bertha, Jim/Phyllis O'Leary (both deceased), Clem/Kay O'Leary (both deceased) Bernice Pinkerton (deceased, Ruth/Mark Wald, Teresa Nichols/John, John O'Leary/ Delia, Eileen Logan (deceased), Elizabeth O'Leary, Gerald/Norma O'Leary, Mike/Lana O'Leary. Rita will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her many relatives and friends. She always had a smile for you. Her kindness, quick wit and gregarious nature made everyone feel welcome. Whether it was chatting at the kitchen table, working on a project, singing Irish songs, or telling stories, poems and jokes it was wonderful to be with her. Rita's quiet strength, humour, generosity and warmth were inspiring and lives on in our hearts. The family extends its sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff of London Health Sciences, University Hospital Campus, especially the Dialysis Unit for their loving care for the past 3 years and the Family Medicine and Palliative Care staff more recently. Special thanks to the many friends and kind staff at Masonville Manor for all of your love and support of Rita during her 4 years with you. Friends will be received by the family for a visitation at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo St., London, ON on Friday, August 13,2010 from 2-4 pm (prayers at 2:30pm) & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass and Celebration of Rita's life will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 511 Cheapside St., London, ON on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00 am.
