Obituary of Shirley Margaret Fraumeni
Shirley (Peggy) Margaret Fraumeni (nee Norton)
Shirley Fraumeni, daughter of the late Gertrude and Thomas Norton, of London, in her 87th year, passed away suddenly March 28, 2009. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Frank Fraumeni (1991) and infant daughter Anne Marie Fraumeni (1960). She was also predeceased by siblings Les Norton (Marina), Elsie Thorpe (Gord), Stan Norton (Maddie) and Jean Lombardo (Hubert). Peggy was a loving mother to Jane Forbes (Roger), John (Kathy), Mike (Jocelyne), Greg (Maria) and Gina Hutcheson (Scott). Peggy was the exceedingly proud "Gram" to Jeffrey, Jennifer, Lisa, Colleen (Karl), Mary Kate, Christopher, John Paul, Bailey, Toni, Douglas and Lauren. She relished in their accomplishments and always had a story or two from her own life experiences growing up in London to share with them. She will be greatly missed by many Norton and Fraumeni nieces and nephews throughout the country and around the world.
Peggy was a life-long resident of London whose family lived through the great flood of 1937 in West London. She lived to see great changes to the London landscape, always interested in the growth and progress of her city. Peggy had a passion for family history and could name every relative living and deceased and every great-great niece and nephew born into her extended family. Peggy was a skilled bridge player, a lover of newspaper and news broadcasts, always able to converse about the most current issues of the day. Her family as well as many friends at Cherryhill and in the community will miss her kind and caring manner, noting that she always asked about others and was concerned for their welfare.
The family will welcome visitors to JOHN T. DONOHUE FUNERAL HOME, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Tuesday, March 31 from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock, with prayers at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica on Wednesday, April 1 at 10:00 a.m. with interment at St. Peter's Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and to the Canadian Cancer Society.
