Obituary of Giuseppe Colombo

COLOMBO, Giuseppe Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Parkwood Hospital on Friday March 6, 2009 after courageously battling cancer. Joe Colombo, at the age of 58. Beloved husband of 37 years to Mimma. Loving father of Maria Concetta Colafranceschi (Rich) and Frank Colombo (Christine). Nonno of Alysia, Luke, Joseph and Avery. Beloved son of Maria Concetta Colombo and the late Francesco. Dear brother of Giovanna Turquassio (Antonio) of Italy, Rosa Turquassio (Giuseppe), Maria Merucci (Giovanni-Battista) all of London and Isabella Bilotta (Domenico) of Italy. Dear brother-in-law of Karen Michienzi (the late John) of London, Bettina Iemme ( the late Antonio) in Italy and Joe Michienzi, Sam Michienzi (Cora), and Connie Vescio (Agostino) all of London. Joe will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. He was grateful for the excellent care and compassion received by Stephanie Pellow (St. Elizabeth Health Care), Tinna, Dr. Malizia and Dr. Bolt. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Father Joseph Dabrowski for his kindness and spiritual support. Friends will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo St (at King St) on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 o'clock. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 345 Lyle St (at York St) on Tuesday morning March 10, 2009 at 11 o'clock. Entombment in the Holy Family Mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery. Prayers Monday at 8:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Joe are asked to consider the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Mary's Church.
