Jane was one of my best childhood friends. We spent hours together in the Loptson basement practising tap dancing, baton twirling and the like and out back of her house playing in what were then just fields and sand dunes, now Lockwood Park. I fondly remember the family's Great Dane, Vicki, who would often accompany us. Jane was always bright in school and went off to what were then called the Advancement Classes before going on to high school. She was aways somehow destined to do something different and I guess she did. I lost track of Jane during university days but have often thought of her and the whole Loptson family. My thoughts are with you all at this time.

Jane and I collaborated on a number of high-school theatrical and musical projects waaaay back in 1971. She was quite talented in both areas. I often stop and think about her playing a piece of music for me in her livingroom that year. It reminded me of galloping wild horses. The music was very complex and very tricky to play, but it was mezmorizing watching her play this piece. I think I’ll stop and think about that right now. Here I go …….

Jane faithfully served as the Master of Formation of the OCDS (Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites), overcoming significant physical challenges with an unbending smile and a heart full of joy. She would expect us to shake off our sadness with a grin. I can almost hear her say: "Don't grieve for me! Be joyful!"
