BROCKMANN, Anthony Edmund "Tony"
At home near Hallville, Ontario on September 19, 2007, in his 83rd year with his beloved wife of 53 years Erika at his side and surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.
Most loving and beloved father of Wilfred (Joanne), Barbara (Michael O'Keeffe), Christine (Michael Coughlan), Peter (Anne), twins Monica (Mark Schultz) and Louise (Bernard Scheid), Annette (Bill Huitema), Gregory (Kathy Lajeunesse), Norbert (Heike), twins Karen (Neil Szeryk) and Erica (Chris Hall), and especially Ingrid (Chris Sylvestre) with whose family Tony and Erika lived. Cherished grandfather of Ben and Deanna Brockmann; Aidan and Kathleen O'Keeffe; Erich (pre-deceased), Jacob, Brennan and Shantel Coughlan; Margaret, Tina, David and Paul Brockmann; Annika, twins Karl and Katrina Schultz; Elyse Scheid; twins Erin and Sarah Huitema; Brian and Charlie Brockmann; Andrea and Kevin Brockmann; Matthew, McKenzie and Rachel Hall; Madeline and Eleanor Szeryk; Samuel and Alexandre Sylvestre. Born in Saskatchewan to a farming family, the 6th of 12 children, Tony is survived by his siblings Gertie Grybowski, Herman Brockman, Leo Brockman, Josephine Holterman, Sister Annata Brockman, Mary Welder, Ralph Brockman, Martha Landsdowne and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany. A proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Sergeant Brockmann served with NATO forces in Germany and with the 1st UN peacekeeping force in Cyprus in 1964. After retiring from the Forces in 1974 Tony worked for Canada Post until his retirement in 1988. An active member of the Knights of Columbus, Tony was a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs from his earliest days of listening with his ear to the radio. Steadfast, loving, humorous and with a deep and abiding faith in the Catholic Church we will miss you Tony - Dear Husband most loving Dad and Opa. Relatives and friends in the Ottawa area are invited to visit at: Byers Funeral Home, Church Street, South Mountain, Ontario (613-989-3836) on Saturday September 22, 2007from 2-4 p.m. A memorial mass and reception in Ottawa will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 151 Laurier Avenue East, Ottawa Ontario on September 29, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Visitations will continue in London, Ontario at Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street (519-434-2708) on Monday September 24, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Mary Immaculate Roman Catholic Church, 1980 Trafalgar St., London Ontario on September 25, 2007 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery with a reception and luncheon in the parish hall. Donations in memory of Tony may be made to the Parkinson's Society of Canada.
