Murphy Norman Peter Murphy, C.A., peacefully at LHSC University Hospital, London, Ontario on May 9, 2007 in his 87th year. Loving husband of Genevieve (Roux) Murphy for 60 years. Dear father of Noreen of Calgary, AB, Margaret (Bob) of Halifax, N.S., Mary of Maple Ridge, B.C., Barbara Zimmermann (Ron) of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Gregory (Lynn) of Oakville, ON. Loving grandfather of Sara MacDougall, Rachel Flood, Jessica Murphy, Brianna Murphy, Eric Zimmermann and Ryan Zimmermann. Great grandfather of Kieran and Ayla. Son of the late James and Margaret Murphy. Predeceased by his brothers Thomas and James and by his sisters Anna, Mary Mosdell, Helen Pirrie, Frances Daigle and Margaret Cormier. During WWII Norman flew with 402 Squadron (Spitfires) and was shot down by "friendly fire" on June 22, 1944 and was a P.O.W. until May 8, 1945. He will be remembered as someone who enjoyed music, poetry and oysters in equal quantity. He was devoted to his wife and family and was a loyal and generous friend. He will be greatly missed. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Church, 515 Cheapside Street, on Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Cremation with interment to take place in St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date.
