Obituary of Mary Caroline Sanderson
SANDERSON, Mary Caroline , (nee Drulard), Passed away peacefully on
Saturday, October 26 at London's Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care
after a long and courageous struggle with a dementia-related illness. She
was 86 years old, the beloved wife of Gordon for more than 60 years and
devoted mother of five children: Mary (Gerry) Stratford, John (Karen) of
Kitchener-Waterloo, Robert (Susan) of Vancouver, Anne of London, and
Barbara (Craig) of Seattle. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren,
Andrew (Kate), Adam, Jennifer, Sarah (Christine), Melissa (Joel), Daniel,
Allison (Tim) and three great grandchildren, Noah, Alisha and Trent.
Caroline is survived by her older brother Clarence (May) of Sarnia, and
was predeceased by a younger brother Leo. She grew up in Windsor, daughter
of Clarence and Beatrice Drulard. After graduating from St. Clair College
she trained as a lab technician and worked with Dr. Ken Carroll at the
Collip Medical Research laboratory, UWO. Besides organizing and running a
busy household, she was active in church, school and community affairs,
serving in various volunteer positions with the Canadian Diabetes
Association, always directing her energies to the needs of family and
friends. Over the years she filled more than a score of scrapbooks with
records of anniversaries and achievements. Special thanks to all the
caregiving staff on the first floor St. Mary's - Mount Hope. Visitors will
be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at
King Street on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 o'clock. A Funeral Mass will be held
at St. Joseph's Church, 89 Charles Steet on Wednesday morning October 30, 2013 at
11 o'clock. Prayers Tuesday at 7 o'clock. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to a charity of your choice.
