Obituary of Joseph Hubert O'Leary

Joseph Hugh O'Leary Surrounded by his family's love, Hugh peacefully passed away on October 28th 2004. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rita (Morkin) and their children: Patrick, Maureen (Tom Pickard), Dan (Langley, BC) and Shelagh (Andrea Ongaro, Newmarket, ON). Hugh was the oldest son of Timothy O'Leary and Christine (Etue) and the brother of Madeline Costello (deceased) Leonard (Brampton, ON), Bernice Pinkerton (Bedford, NS), Eileen Logan (deceased), Ruth Wald (Nanaimo, BC), Clem (deceased), James (St. Catharines, ON), Theresa Nichol (Brampton, ON), Elizabeth (Betty), John (Mitchell, ON), Gerald (Ailsa Craig, ON) and Michael (Ilderton, ON). Hugh loved and was loved by numerous nieces, nephews and friends and neighbours. His grandchildren, Dan, Brent, James, Shawn, Chris, Samantha, Carleigh, Sarah, Ryan and Zachary were always a source of joy in his life, as he watched them learn and grow. Hugh was born and raised on the family farm near Mt. Carmel, ON. He later met and married the love of his life, Rita and moved to London, ON where they raised their family and made many friends. Hugh was a World War II veteran and worked at General Motors for many years until his retirement. Hugh loved the outdoors, the Toronto Maple Leafs and all things Irish. Many thanks to the staff at Victoria Hospital for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hugh's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Visitation is being held at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street (at King St.), on October 31, 2004 at 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be held at the 2:00 visitation. There will be a Funeral Mass at St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 377 Oakland Avenue (at Dundas St.) on Monday, November 1, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. A reception at the St. Patrick's Church Hall, lower level will follow the funeral mass. There will be a family internment at St. Peter's Cemetery on a separate date. Hugh, you will live in our hearts forever. Arrangements entrusted to: DONOUE FUNERAL HOME 519-434-2708.
