Obituary of Sister Mary Carmel White
SISTER MARY CARMEL (Margaret Mary) WHITE of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London neighbourhood, died peacefully on August 6th at University Hospital, having celebrated her 91st birthday and almost 72 years of dedicated religious life. Sister is lovingly remembered by her sisters in community, her sister Elaine (David) Culleton, brothers Pat (Joan), Jim (Rita), brothers-in-law John Popelas and Derek Kotchie, as well as many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother Mary (Harrigan), father John, sisters Marlene, Patricia Bliss, Mary Lou Kotchie and Joan Popelas, brothers Edwin, Father Frank, Jack, and brother-in-law Bill Bliss. Her 40 year ministry as teacher and principal brought her to schools in London, Ingersoll, St. Thomas, Windsor, Kinkora, West Lorne, Maidstone, and Belle River. This was followed by a five year period as receptionist in the Pastoral Care Department of St. Joseph's Hospital, London and then finally to her much loved ministry of care at the Mount St. Joseph Guest Wing. Sister is fondly remembered for her gentle spirit and caring attitude. We thank the Care Centre Staff at our Windermere residence for their loving care of Sister while a resident there. All services will be held at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 485 Windermere Rd.Visitation will take place from 3:00 - 5:00 and 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, August 8, with an Evening Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, August 9, 11:00 a.m., Father Richard Charette presiding.Burial at St. Peter's Cemetery following the Funeral Mass.
