Both my wife and I worked with Nancy many years ago. My wife always kept Nancy in her thoughts. I always remember Nancy as being a very fun and caring person. My wife passed in March 2013, but I know my would want me to write how much Nancy will be missed by all that knew her.

Well it was grade two. I do not remember Nancy from Kindergarten or first grade but Grade two changed EVRYTHING! We had a mean teacher named Mrs Landon- we always wondered who would have married her lol. Anyway, I would sometimes walk Nancy home from school because it was such an adventure to cross through a big field and then cross a creek to get her house, even though it was certainly not on my shortest route to reach home.
Well one day I stole 15 cents from someone's desk at school. Our teacher was on the hunt to find the little thief who stole 15 cents! There was an example to be made, so the inquisition was intense. Well Nancy was just too weak ( OK OK so she was just honest ) and offered me up to the teacher. You see I had performed my magic act for her earlier that day and with my hands behind my back drew first one forward with a dime clenched in the hand and then the other with a nickel. She was not fooled and caught on that there were indeed two coins. Well you would have thought that this would have ended our "friendship", especially since I got the strap 10 times on each of those little hands, but it did not and this was the start of my memories of Nancy-Jane Patricia Beale. So many memories- some that our children would be too embarrassed to hear! Nancy tried to teach me to not take myself too seriously, but I was a slow learner. We always laughed when we were together. She spoke always of her family and friends to me. Whether it was her sister's trips or her health or her nephews' or nieces' successes and struggles or children of friends who were struggling, she cared about people and let me know what was going on in her life. I felt like I actually knew these people through Nancy's stories. I felt like was at the family get-together or the trips to Montreal or the travels throughout the world or the death of a beloved pet or the "adoption" of a new pet- I felt like I was a part of each moment that Nancy shared with me.
The magic all began with that trick and Nancy made it last through the years!
