Obituary of Joseph Durand
At London Health Sciences Centre- University Hospital on Sunday, June 30th 2013, Joseph Gabriel (Joe) Durand at the age of 92 years. Beloved husband of 67 years to Gloria Durand. Loving father of Elizabeth Durand of Tillsonburg (formerly California), Mary Durand of Tillsonburg (formerly London), Joey Durand of London and Anne Hartley of Pefferlaw. Much loved Papa of Deedra (C.J.), Derek and Nina. Dear brother of Sr. Rachel S.U. of Chatham. Predeceased by his 5 sisters and 5 brothers, including Fr. Remi Durand and Msgr. Anthony Durand. Joe will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff of L.H.S.C. 9th floor and 6th floor Palliative Care for their outstanding and compassionate care. At his request, Joe has graciously donated his body to the Department of Anatomy at the University of Western Ontario. Cremation and Interment will take place at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Ontario at a later date. Joe joined the Canadian Armed Forces, Artillery Division, in 1940. He was then deployed to England and was part of the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944. He was a parishioner and former choir member of Holy Family Parish, however due to renovations a Memorial Mass will take place on Thursday, July 4th at 11:30 am. at St. Joseph's Church, 89 Charles Street, London.
