Obituary of Josephine Mary Ann Cherry
CHERRY, Josephine Mary Ann (Wielgosz)-
A lifelong resident of London, Ontario passed away on April 7, 2013 at the age of 85, after a lengthy illness at London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital. Jo (as she preferred to be called) was a small but mighty presence who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children Wendy Cherry-Truant (Rick), Wayne Cherry (Cathy), and David Cherry. Loving grandmother to Lisa Cherry (Allan), Alison Cherry (Rocco), Dean Cherry (Crystal), Samantha Cherry and Michael Truant, and great grandmother to Eva and Nina. Jo was the middle child of thirteen children and the daughter of Polish immigrants Nellie and John Wielgosz. She is predeceased by her husband Bill Cherry (2005), parents Nellie and John Wielgosz, sisters Rose, Mary, Anne, Kay, Frances and brothers Frank, Joe, Bob and Bernie. She is survived by sisters Julia Blackman (Al), Cecilia Hughes (John), and Stella Stewart. She enjoyed lively conversation, music, gambling, horse racing, cooking, bingo, "The Young and the Restless", entertaining family and friends, and the company of her children and grandchildren. Jo was a wonderful mother and always cared highly about the welfare of her family. She was very excited to welcome great granddaughters Eva and Nina to the family this past fall. Over her last few months she spent time in two different hospitals and greatly appreciated the care she received and the professionalism and courtesies of the staffs. We will always remember her for her quick wit, many humorous personal experiences, the advice she gave and her "tell it like it is" approach to life. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Friday from 7-9 o'clock and again on Saturday morning April 13, 2013 from 10 o'clock until the time of the funeral service at 11 o'clock. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
