Obituary of Margot Lynn Griffin
GRIFFIN, MARGOT LYNN- After a long fight, at University Hospital, on April 2, 2013. In her 63rd year, Margot was predeceased by her parents, Russ and Marg Walker of Petrolia, and by her sister, Wendy Aitchison of London. She is survived by husband Philip, daughter Nicole and son-in-law, Jarrett Spriet. Dear sister-in-law of Terri and Arnie Guzyk of London and Dermot and Oonagh Griffin of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Loving aunt of Aaron Aitchison and Jordan Guzyk. She will always be loved by her fur-baby, Buddy the dog. Margot was known for her great love of children, helping them through their start in school and instilling a love of reading and learning as an elementary teacher. When she could no longer actively teach, she became The Book Lady, enjoying a successful career as a columnist, writing and recommending books for children, teaching children's writing courses at Western University, and even dabbling in local radio and television. She had an ability to befriend people, and give to others, even as she suffered through her illness. She had an imagination like no other, was creative and generous. She will be sadly missed by her many friends, and her family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Austin Mall and the 4th floor nurses and support staff at University Hospital for their great care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. John Sangster, Toula Gerace, Dr. Ross Feldman , CCAC personal support workers, and Victorian Order of Nurses for their many years of incredible dedication, support and friendship. Private family service has been held and cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club on Sunday, June 2nd, 2013 from 2 - 5 o'clock, with sharing of stories to take place at 3 o'clock. It is Margot's wish that donations be directed to the Arthritis Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Ronald McDonald House.
