Obituary of Sister Dolores O'Sullivan

SISTER DOLORES O'SULLIVAN of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London neighbourhood, died peacefully on February 28th accompanied by the prayer of her community. In her 83rd year of life and 64th year of religious profession, Sister is lovingly remembered by her sisters in community and by her nieces Dolores Whitton, Deanna Hart, and friends Stephen Viola and Kathleen Robbins. Predeceased by her mother Teresa (Gallagher), father James, sisters Monica (Suitor), Irene, Lilian (Johnston), Florence (Glazier), Mary (Burnette), Ella (O'Hearn), Agnes (MacLean), Margaret (Whitton), Ursula, and brothers Joseph, Leo, James, Edward, and Patrick. Sister Dolores enjoyed ministry as a teacher from 1955 - 1975 in London, Sarnia, Yarmouth Ontario, Tillsonburg, St. Mary's, Woodstock and Maple Ridge B.C. She reminisced fondly of her time in Edmonton at the Glenrose School Hospital where she worked with students with special needs from 1977 - 1983. Having finished her active teaching Sister continued to work there for nine years developing a team approach to service. Sister Dolores enjoyed many opportunities of presenting her research and concepts on team work at conferences throughout Europe, the U.K., and the U.S.A. In 2003 she participated in a Roundtable Conference on Special Education in Croatia. These experiences along with her earlier studies at the University of Edmonton (M. Ed. Educational Administration) and at the University of London, U.K. (Department of Child Development and Education Psychology) increased her enthusiasm and energy to complete her book "The Triple A Approach to Teamwork: Achievement, Affirmation and Affiliation". A final copy of the manuscript was presented to her in 2012. All services will be held at the Sisters Residence, 485 Windermere Rd. Vigil Service on Tuesday, March 5, 4 p.m. Visitation from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., Father Richard Charette presiding.
