Martin-Auksi Catherine (Winnie)
Peacefully, surrounded by the love of family on Tuesday January 15, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's our bonnie Flower of Scotland, Catherine (Winnie) has returned home. Born September 27, 1935 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Beloved wife of Peter Auksi. Adored and cherished mother of Gerald Martin, Elaine Mansfield and Paul Martin. Loving mother-in-law to Susie, Paul and Jodi. Forever Nana-Banana of Sam, Glynis, Ben, Peri, Claire, Maggie and Kate. Survived by loving sister Sally Paterson (the late, David Paterson) of Moffat, Scotland, sister-in-law Irene Flynn of Mississauga, brother-in-law Peter Hegarty of London, brother and sister-in-law Hillar and Elizabeth Auksi of Toronto. Predeceased by devoted siblings, Joe Flynn and May Hegarty. A wonderful Aunt to nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. Prior to retirement Catherine (Winnie) enjoyed a fulfilling career as the Personnel Manager of the
Walmart/Woolco store at Argyle Mall. She loved to dance and will be missed by her fellow dancers in London's Scottish Country Dance community. The final dance came far too soon. Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff on Pond Mills at the Village of Glendale Crossing for their kindness and compassion over the past 3 years. A special thanks to Michelle and Agnes; our nightly dinners will never be the same.The family will receive friends at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street (at King Street) on Friday, January 18th from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. Prayers Friday evening at 7 o'clock. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica, 196 Dufferin Ave., on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
