Obituary of Mary Helen Gendron

Helen Gendron A long life, well lived, came to a peaceful end on December 4, 2012. Mary Helen (Cummins) Gendron was in her 99th year. She was the oldest of four and was predeceased by her brother Chuck (Fr. Charles Cummins SFM) and her sisters Noreen and Margaret. Also predeceased by her husband Raymond in 1967 and her granddaughter Michelle Devereux in 2001. Helen was the mother of four. Ann (Alf) Devereux, Paul (Teresa Matyas), Charles (Dianne Dane), Michael (Brenda Morter). Grandmother of Geoff Devereux (Simone Richmond), Steve Devereux, Tamara (Joe) Belancic, Angela (Scott) Van Velzer, Lisa (Cole) Bertsch, Danielle (Daniel) DeVries, Nicole (Eric) Andrews, Colette Gendron, Christopher Gendron, Pamela Gendron. Great-grandmother of Sadie, Josie and Zack Van Velzer, Everett and Blake Bertsch. Helen lived in London for the past 65 years. She was active in parish communities to which she belonged, a life member of The Catholic Women's League and also volunteered with many charitable groups. Helen excelled at needlework and handicrafts of all kinds. Bridge was a favorite hobby. But Helen's greatest joy was her family. Helen managed the Shaw's Dairy Store in Lambeth from 1965 - 1985. In 2003 Helen moved to Maisonville Manor Retirement Home. Many new friendships were made and she enjoyed the camaraderie of living there. Funeral arrangements are being handled by John T Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, London. Visitation : Friday December 7. 2 PM - 4PM. 7PM - 9PM. Prayers at 7 PM. Funeral Mass: Fr. Clare Coleman will celebrate the funeral liturgy at 10 AM on Saturday December 8th at St. Michael's R. C. Church, 511 Cheapside Street, London ON N5Y 3X5. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
