Obituary of Nicola Lorusso

LORUSSO, Nicola It is with heavy hearts and sadness that the family announces the passing of Nicola Lorusso. Nick passed away peacefully at LHSC University Hospital on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79. Beloved, caring and devoted husband of Maria for over 56 years. Adored and respected father of his children Mary Lorusso, Sam Lorusso and his wife Ruth, Vito Lorusso and his wife Simona and Tina Bitondo and her husband Domenic. Cherished and loved nonno to his grandchildren Nick, Sam, Alexia, Arianna, Michaela, Vincent and Matteo. Dear brother of Laura Rondinelli (Andrea), Vincenza Lorusso (late Vincenzo) of Italy, Giuseppe Lorusso (Carmela) of Italy, Armando Lorusso (Rosa), the late Clorinda Rondinelli (Natale) and late Vincenzo Lorusso. Remembered by his brothers-in-law Vito Buragina (late Vincenza), Antonio Buragina (Brenda) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Nick was the owner of LDA Construction (1994 Ltd.) which he founded in February of 1973. He worked tirelessly at his career to ensure those he loved were cared for. He enjoyed time in his vast garden and at his home in Florida which was a source of pride. Nick will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who ensured that family always came first. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Many heartfelt thanks to the professional, caring and amazing staffs of the Victoria Hospital Emergency Department, Critical Care Trauma Center, and the University Hospital Intensive Care Unit, especially nurse Sue, for taking such great care and ensuring the comfort of our father and our family. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday evening from 7-9 o'clock and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street at York Street, on Saturday morning August 4, 2012 at 10 o'clock. (parking entrance from York or King Streets) Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery. Prayers Friday afternoon at 3:45. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Mary's Church restoration fund or the L.H.S.C. Foundation.
