Margaret Anne de Ryk–Tavani (Marko)
Mother of 3, teacher of thousands.
The family of Margaret de Ryk-Tavani sadly announces her passing at LHSC University Hospital on Sunday December 15, 2024 in her 76th year. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her beloved husband Stan Tavani (2018) and son Edward de Ryk (2018). She leaves behind her 2 daughters Catherine-Jane Arseneau (Darren) of Whitby and Jennifer Alderson (James) of Bradford, as well as her daughter-in-law Paula Guerra. Grandma will be sadly missed by the ‘lights of her world’, her grandchildren Caroline and Nathan Arseneau. Predeceased by her father, Rudy Marko (2004), her mother, Ann Marko (2022), and her grandson, Salvador de Ryk Guerra. She is survived by her dear sister and best friend, Jean Lutchin (Chuck) of London. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Santina Homulos (Vic), brother in law, Peter Tavani, and her former spouse, Robert de Ryk.
A lifelong educator, Margaret was a retired FSL and ESL teacher with the Halton Catholic District School Board. She was an active volunteer, always looking to help others through her work with local organizations including Hutton House Learning Centre, Byron Food Bank, Alzheimer’s Society and Community Meal. Her kindness knew no bounds; she was a beacon of light for her friends and family, always thinking of others and ensuring they had their fill of her home-baked treats.
Friends and family will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. George Roman Catholic Church, 1164 Commissioners Road W., on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11 am. Cremation with inurnment in St. Peter’s Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
