It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vincenzo DeBenedictis, who departed this life peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 8th, 2024, just one day shy of his 87th birthday. Born on December 9th, 1937, in Vittorito, Abruzzo, Italy, Vincenzo carried the rich traditions and values of his heritage with him throughout his life.
Vincenzo was a devoted husband to Michella Elisa DeBenedictis and a beloved father to his son John and daughter-in-law Gloria, and his son David and daughter-in-law Sindy. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, Nonno to Danielle Safi (husband Omer), and great-grandfather to their son Theo, as well as Nonno to Matthew, Sophia, and Gabriella DeBenedictis. His legacy of love and warmth will live on in their hearts.
Vincenzo was predeceased by his parents Pascualina Lozzi and Florideo DeBenedictis, his cherished brother Pepino and sister Elodia, who passed away in his youth, and his sister Derna in Italy. Despite the distance, the bond he shared with his family in Italy remained a significant part of his life.
He is lovingly remembered by numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family members, whose lives he enriched with his kindness and compassion.Vincenzo was also predeceased by Many Loving brother and sister-in-laws.
Growing up, Vincenzo learned the value of hard work at a young age. His humble beginnings shaped his unwavering work ethic and deep appreciation for life's blessings. Through determination and perseverance, he became a successful businessman, providing a solid foundation for his family and passing on values of resilience and integrity. These lessons became a cornerstone of his family's identity and remain a guiding light for future generations.
A proud and compassionate man, Vincenzo was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He spent many happy days at the Marconi Club of London, where he enjoyed playing cards, sharing laughs, and creating lasting memories with his community. His kind heart, golden spirit, and unwavering compassion touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we mourn his loss, we celebrate the remarkable life he lived—a life defined by love, generosity, and an enduring commitment to those he held dear.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre c/o LHSF.ca in Vincenzo's memory.
Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Tuesday, December 10th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street, on Wednesday, December 11th, at 11:00 AM .Entombment at St. Peter’s Cemetery - Holy Family Mausoleum.
