Obituary of Lorenzo Minelli

Lorenzo Minelli 

On September 30, 2024, Lorenzo Minelli passed away peacefully at the age of 69, surrounded by his family and friends. Lorenzo was born in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy on August 10, 1955.  He came to Canada with his family as a young boy of 8 ½. 

 Lorenzo is predeceased by his father Antonio Minelli (1977) and his mother Maria Giuseppina Minelli (2023).  He leaves behind his two brothers: Fiorigio Minelli (Chris); Frank Minelli (Margie) and two sisters: Fiorina Iannantuono (Donato); Ritanna Terron (Antonio) along with all his nieces and nephews: Biagio Iannantuono (Tina); Adele Iannantuono (Mark); Adriana Minelli (Giles); Anthony Minelli (Nikki), Dreyson,  and all of his great nieces and nephews: Lucia (Adam), Daniela and Anna Iannantuono; Francesca, Christian and Erika Bekkering.  And the little ones Roman, Frankie, Brian and Maren.  He will also be missed by his aunt and uncle and an extended family of cousins and friends.  

Lorenzo faced many physical challenges brought about by two major strokes in the prime of his life, but despite this, he was able to continue his many academic pursuits. He overcame challenges that he was told he might not be able to achieve.  Although he had physical limitations, the chair did not confine him intellectually. He had a keen mind that he put to good use writing poetry, learning new languages, sharing ideas with colleagues and friends all around the world and giving talks to medical students to share his experience living in the world as a disabled person.   

Although we will miss him dearly, Lorenzo is now free of his physical confinement and his pain and soaring above us.  Rest in peace. 

Visitation will be on Friday, October 4th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Michael's Parish, 511 Cheapside Street, London, ON N5W 3X5. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00.  Entombment at Holy Family Mausoleum, St. Peter's Cemetery following the Mass.
