Obituary of Peter Trocchi

Pietro "Peter" Trocchi, born August 2, 1933 in Ceprano, Italy, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024 at his home in London, Ontario  surrounded by his loving family. Pietro was the beloved husband of 64+ years to Vincenza Trocchi (nee DeLellis), to whom he was married on February 14, 1960, a few months before they immigrated to Canada together.  Pietro is predeceased by his parents Lucia and Vincenzo and siblings Arcangelo, Angelina, Antonio, and Grazia, and is survived by his sisters Teresina, Pierina, and Assunta.

Pietro and Vincenza traveled across the Atlantic by ship, through Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and eventually settled in London, where they built a family rich in love. Pietro is survived by Vincenza and his children Enzo (Sandy) and Lucy (Richard), and is predeceased by his eldest son Giovanni "John" (Cathy). He was a cherished Nonno to Matthew (Abby), Nicole, Andrew (Tasha), Julia, Spencer, Christina, Michael, Ryan, Rachel, and Matthew, and his great-grandchildren Ellie, Camryn, and William.

Pietro dedicated over 35 years of proud service as a truck driver for the City of London, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. He was extremely proud of the various awards he won, including one for 25 Years of Safe Driving. He wore his City of London uniform jackets with pride, while gardening or tending to his farm, growing many of the fruits and vegetables his family enjoyed at home. Pietro and Vincenza enjoyed traveling together to Florida and Mexico, and visiting family in Niagara Falls and Windsor, as well as back home in Italy.

Pietro will be remembered for his calm and easygoing demeanour, his love for his family, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation to celebrate Pietro's life will be held on Monday, September 2 from 2-5 p.m. at Donohue Funeral Home (362 Waterloo St.), with prayers at 4 p.m.  A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Parish (511 Cheapside St.). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
