Obituary of Gina McIntosh

McIntosh, Georgina Eileen (nee Brunton)

Peacefully passed away in Victoria, B.C. on Thursday, July 20th, 2023. Loving wife of Gary McIntosh. Proud mother of Declan, and loving stepmother of Richard (Nicky) and Laura. Grandmother to Mya and Lily. Cherished daughter of George and the late Kathleen (nee Costello) Brunton. Dear sister of Celine (Bill) Irving, Joanne, Mary Catherine (Robert) Arkle, and George III. Gina will be missed by her nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, many cousins, and friends.

Born October 8th, 1967, in London, Ontario, Gina attended St. Mary’s Choir School and graduated from Catholic Central High School. Her passion for Dramatic Arts led her to York University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. Gina’s acting career spanned decades, encompassing performing, directing, writing, and teaching. Her unique interpretations produced memorable, well-loved characters.

In a word, Gina was hilarious. Always ready with a witty observation or comedic persona; Gina had a presence onstage and off, that radiated love and joy. She believed in the power of the Arts to heal and create community. Gina took delight in sharing her diverse gifts. Her original knitted designs and culinary powers were legendary. She took every opportunity to fully celebrate all holidays and special events and was known for her ability to select the perfect humorous card for every occasion.

Faith was a central component in Gina’s life, helping her to meet the challenges of living with MS with grace and dignity. Gina and Gary exemplified steadfast and enduring love throughout their 27 years of marriage. Her son, Declan was a perpetual source of pride, as she witnessed his many achievements and the wonderful man he has become. Gina was devoted to her family and wide circle of friends. She enriched the lives of everyone she encountered in subtle and profound ways.

Thank you to Dr. Easterbrook, Dr. Norgrove and all the incredible nurses at Saanich Peninsula Palliative Care.
