Obituary of Vivian Theresa Scollard
Scollard, Vivian Theresa (née Dodge): March 29, 1930-January 16th, 2023
Scollard, David Joseph: August 6, 1939-January 20th, 2023
Our beloved parents, married for 56 years, could not bear to be separated for long, so when David (83) became palliative, Vivian (92) was always by his side. Sadly, she passed away suddenly on January 16 before her much-adored husband could leave her. David joined her on January 20. They leave behind a son, John, and daughter-in-law, Cindy (Laundry), who miss them dearly. David was a much loved son of William and Minerva Scollard (both predeceased) of London, formerly of Capreol. He was also a wonderful brother to Gerry and his wife Katie (both predeceased) and to Charles and his wife Suzanne of Calgary. Vivian was a treasured daughter to Ernest and Jeanne Dodge (both predeceased) of Espanola. She was very close to her younger brothers Harvey (predeceased) and his wife Barbara, and Donald of the Espanola area. David and Vivian were cherished greatly by their many nieces and nephews.
David and Vivian were both teachers. While David was head of the mathematics department at Sudbury Secondary School, Vivian taught nursing with Cambrian College. Vivian was always quick on her feet, retiring in 1980, but still remained quite active. David, who enjoyed teaching math, retired in 1996. They both enjoyed early retirement with cherished summers at their cottage on Agnew Lake. Many happy memories were made with their family and friends. They also enjoyed travelling; having driven, flown, and cruised around the globe. They moved to London in 2008, and most of their travels then were to see John and Cindy in the Pacific Northwest until their son and daughter-in-law decided to return home. David and Vivian’s family would like to thank the many health care professionals that made the couple’s transition to their next life as peaceful as possible. A Celebration of Life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, please donate in David and Vivian’s name to Diabetes Canada.
