Obituary of Nikki Thompson

Andrea Nicole (Nikki) Thompson

It is with great sadness that we are announcing the passing of our sister Nikki Thompson in her 51st year on Wednesday December 7th, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones at LHSC University Hospital, London Ontario.

Nikki was born in All Saints Hospital, Springhill Nova Scotia on Tuesday March 2nd, 1971, at 8:00 am.  She was the 5th daughter and 5th child of the late Gerald (Nicky) Thompson and Marina (Silvia) Thompson (nee Humber).  She arrived during the era where her 4 sisters had to wait until she arrived home with Mom to see her. Needless to say, back in the day, one could say she was doted on.  It was also not uncommon where we had both grannies living with us over the winter to help out.  What a winter that was but it held many memories that we enjoyed over the years. She also has the honour of being the 8th generation and direct descendants of Richard and Dorothy Thompson, pioneer settlers from Yorkshire, England.  She has strong family ties and has centuries of family and relatives across Canada and the US.

Nikki spent her early years in Oxford and Her Dad’s family home in South Victoria, Nova Scotia.  Her formative school years were spent in Thorold Ontario at her mom’s home, she then moved to London, Ontario where she settled in and resided for the rest of her life.  Nikki loved city living in which held her heart, it was her life, and it was the activities and downtown community that held her interests.  These past two years have been a struggle and a challenge for her in which she faced head on with determination but lost the final battle.  Should we all be blessed with her determination and strength.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her older sister Patricia Ann in 1977. She is survived by her 3 sons, Seth Nicolas Thompson, Andrew Michael Nicolas Thompson, and Alexzander William Troy Thompson all residing in London Ontario: 3 older sisters, Norma (Jim) Reid, Bridgewater NS and Amy (Troy) Thompson- Bunguay, London ON and Linda (John) Thompson-Arntz of St. Catherine’s Ontario and a younger brother Jerry Thompson of Thorold, Ontario. She has one nephew Devon (Sherry) Reid that also resides in London Ontario

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the medical staff on the ICU and the 8th Floor surgical teams for their amazing care and compassion they demonstrated.  We will be forever grateful.

A sincere thank you to all the local Community Groups and Organizations, you will be forever in our hearts.
