Jackie Goddard

Obituary of Jackie Goddard

Jackie (Jake) Goddard passed away peacefully at Ashwood Manor on November 16, 2022 in his 85th year. We are very sad to say goodbye but very happy that he is going to be resting with the love of his life, his soulmate and wife Barbara Goddard (Powell) who passed away 2 years ago leaving a very big void in his life.  Their devotion for each other was amazing.

Loving father of Kelly Fraleigh (Rob), Tammy Goddard (Craig), and Michele Kimbark (Kim). Cherished Grandfather to Kristy Fleet (Jason), Ryan Fleet, Amanda Stewart (Iain), Jeremy Jennison (Ashley), Rebecka Whitmill (Rob), Courtney Kimbark, Tanner Kimbark (Beth), and Austin Kimbark. A dear Great Grandfather to Madeleine and Charlotte Beschorner; Sophie, Audrey, and Henry Jennison; Owen and Preston Stewart; Ben and Tom Whitmill; and the newest great grandson Cassius Kimbark.

Beloved brother to Donald Goddard (deceased), Connie Salisbury (Wayne) and Harry Goddard (deceased). Devoted brother-in-law to Brian Powell (deceased), Brenda Duncan (Jamie), Darrel Powell (Joey), Kathy Powell (deceased) (Don), Wendy Powell, and Todd Powell (Tracy).

Jake loved to play baseball in his very early years where he swept Barb off her feet buying Orange Crush at the ice cream parlor where she worked. He was an avid and talented golfer who spent endless hours as a member at Thames Valley Golf Course and took pride in watching many family members and friends engaging in the sport using golf clubs that he lovingly made in his shed. Jake’s true passion was his family. While his own path was one with many challenges, no one worked harder and was more dedicated to building a legacy to be proud of. He and Barb found so much joy in the happiness of his children and grandchildren. Something that was very important to Jake was the power of education. No one was prouder of the diverse educational and professional achievements of his family, a life lesson that he ingrained in them from a young age.

His later years were spent caring for Barb, which is a responsibility he carried out with so much love and pride. They are truly a team that has been through it all and now they can both rest, together once again, where they can continue to look down on their family with pride and love as those they left behind will think of them with many happy memories, endless appreciation, and love.

Many thanks to Ashwood Manor for the very special care they both received. A grateful and appreciative thanks to Helen, Keeley and Wilma who cared for both Barb and Jake through all of their Ashwood years. Jaclyn and of course our new general manager Samantha who went beyond the call of duty to support Jake over the last months.

We will be having a celebration of life for both Barb and Jake in the Spring/Summer of 2023 at a time where family members can make arrangements to participate.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Jake to the George Bray Sports Association or charity of choice would be appreciated. (www.donohuefuneralhome.ca).
