Curran; Healy (nee Good), Elizabeth Anne “Betty”

Suddenly on Monday, July 18, 2022, with her family by her side.  Elizabeth was born in Cork, Ireland April 7, 1933 to Captain Michael and Mary Good.  Beloved wife of the late Tony Healy (1983) and the late Jack Curran (2012).  Loving mother of Catherine (Cormac) Cashell, Michael (Amy) Healy and Martin (Lisa) Healy and stepmother to Rosemary (Paul) Shaw and Ruth (Joe) Allen.  Greatly missed by her sister Gemma Cashell, and sister-in-law Norma Good.  Predeceased by her sister Virginia (Bernie) Wiseman, brother Raymond Good and brother-in-law Desmond Cashell.  Proud grandmother of Fiona and Niamh Cashell, and Shane, Cameron and Caleb Allen.  Elizabeth will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Ireland, U.S., and Canada.  Elizabeth will be greatly missed by her many friends and caring neighbours.

Betty grew up in Cork City, Ireland, engaged to Tony Healy, before emigrating to Toronto, Canada in 1958, where they were married and started a family.  They moved to London, Ontario in 1968.  A longtime resident of Old South London and active member of St. Martin’s parish, Betty was known for her boundless hospitality, hosting many wonderful gatherings at her home, not least of which was her annual New Year’s Day open house.

After 10 years of widowhood, Betty married the second love of her life, Jack Curran.  They had many happy years together, enjoying their retirement to the fullest.

She took a great interest in nurturing family connections, far and wide.  She especially enjoyed travelling to visit family in New York, Florida, Kenora, Vancouver, and her beloved Ireland.

Fiercely independent, adventurous, feisty, (sometimes exasperating, as only Irish mothers can be!), Betty was always up for a lively discussion, and a gin and tonic made with Cork Dry gin.

Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday July 22 from 6-8 pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis-St. Martin Church, 46 Cathcart Street, on Saturday, July 23 at 11 o'clock.  Those wishing to join the family via livestream may do so at www.francismartin.dol.ca.  Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date.  A special thank you to the Critical Care Unit at Victoria Hospital. Donations to London Health Sciences Foundation (lhsf.ca) would be appreciated.
