I worked with Dawna 15 years ago, and she was such a kind, funny, strong, compassionate person. Although we haven't kept in touch over the years, she sent me a nice message a couple months ago when I had a loss in my life.

Although Dawna and I worked in the same office our paths only crossed occasionally (office potlucks, staff meetings, etc).
She presented as a beautiful, fun loving woman with a wonderful smile. She was well liked and always pleasant to be around.
A bright light has gone out.
My heartfelt condolences go out to her husband and beautiful children as well as other family members and friends.

Mere words cannot express what it was like to know Dawna, she was a beautiful soul. I feel thankful to have had the privilege of working with her for 20 years. I can still see her and Jody dancing at my retirement party. She was fun, passionate, intelligent and determined and I will miss her. It was a shock to hear the news of Dawn's sudden passing. She had a presence that could light up a room. You never had to guess where she was coming from as she shot from the hip. She liked to shock you and was very good at it. We had a great time over the years we worked together and I had the utmost respect for her and I always will. Dawna had a beautiful soul and spirit. Her infectious laugh, her ability to put anyone at ease, and provide support and comfort to everyone.
I had the privilege of having Dawna as my Supervisor at Social Services and will never forget the time she chased someone down the street, who had just stolen items from her vehicle. Dawna gently and calmly coaxed the person back to the office, listened to their problems and assisted the person in getting the help they needed. That was Dawna. She always saw the good in everyone and did her best to help them. I will never forget the many conversations I had with her and the laughs we shared. Dawna, you will be sorely missed.
