Obituary of Nola Helen Longo

Nola Helen Longo (nee Scimmi) Nola Helen Longo,(nee Scimmi) passed over on Family Day February 20, 2012, at Sunset Manor, Collingwood. She was in her 85th year. Nola was predeceased by her adoring husband and soul mate Cosmo (1998), her cherished parents Bernardo and Agata, her brothers, Henry, Angelo and Frank. Nola was the loving and dedicated Mother to Carolyn Kuraitis (Viktor), Laura Bubola(Robert), Frank Longo (Kathy) and Mary Becker (Jeffrey). Nola passed away in the arms of her daughter, Mary, into the waiting arms of her beloved family in heaven. Mary was an exceptional and dedicated care-giver to her dear Mother. Nola was the proud and devoted "Nunny" to 12 grandchildren: Daniel & Drew Kuraitis, Deanna, Stephanie & Justin Bubola, Cosmo (Stephanie), Kees, Frank, Whitney and Joe Longo and Andrew (Luciana) & Kristin Becker. They will all remember special times, travels and sleepovers with Nunny, her special love, caring and generosity for each one, her fabulous Italian cooking, her lemon meringue pie, playing Monopoly and "31", stuffing all of the stockings on the mantle with care every Christmas, never forgetting a birthday or special occasion and always so proud of all of their good deeds and accomplishments, always smiling and encouraging words for all… Nola also leaves behind two beautiful great grandchildren, Ollie and Sullie. To have known Nola is to have been touched by a truly beautiful soul. Her outer beauty was only surpassed by her inner beauty and serenity. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunset Manor for the many years of committed care and support. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday, February 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass at St. Peter's Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, on Saturday morning, February 25th at 10:30 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a Food Bank of your choice. In celebration of Nola's unconditional love and precious hugs, please give your family a hug and tell them that you love them.
