McKim, Kenneth Robert
Kenneth Robert McKim passed away peacefully in Veterans Care, Parkwood Hospital on September 30th, 2020 in his 96th year. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 30 years, Barbara Shales McKim.
Ken was the dear father of four children: Rob (Bonnie), John (Bernice), Donna Lee Wilkins (David) and Brian (Chris) and two step children, Michael Shales (Beth) and Patty Boles (John). He leaves behind grandchildren Jennifer, Colin (Chantal), Nathan (Monica), Angela and Bradley McKim, Laura Shales (Anthony) and Brent (Kaleigh), Scott and Mark Boles and great grandchildren.
Born and raised in Toronto, Ken was the oldest of three children, with sisters Donna and Audrey. He proudly served his country during World War ll and after as a peacekeeper.
He played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonaut football clubs, winning back to back Grey Cups with the Argos in 1946 and 1947.
Ken followed that with a lengthy career in the food service industry. He served at McCormick's and Club House Foods on London, where he made many lifelong friends as Director of Purchasing. Ken also founded a successful olive importing business and made many more dear friends, especially in his beloved Spain.
Ken's final year during declining health was spent in Veterans' Care at Parkwood Hospital, where the wonderful staff at all levels treated him as if he were family and became his great comforters during the restrictions of the covid pandemic.
The family will hold a private graveside service, in recognition of covid restrictions.
