Zenona Mary Cherniak

Nov. 5, 1928 – Feb. 24, 2024

            Nona Cherniak passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2024 at the age of 95. She was born in Poland and moved to Canada in 1949. She married John Cherniak and they made London, Ontario their home.

            Nona is survived by her children Victor (Doris) Cherniak, Robert (Tammy) Cherniak, Vince Cherniak, and Xania Geelen; by her grandchildren Mikhail (Caity) Cherniak, Cassandra Cherniak, Riley Geelen, Caitlynne Cherniak, Eric Geelen, and Denver (Mikayla Hepburn) Geelen; by her sister Vera Antonova; and by her great niece Lena Zubareva (Charles Henri). 

            Nona was predeceased by her husband, John, and her children, Julius, Mark, and Michael Cherniak.

            Nona loved being a mother and grandmother. She loved all animals but especially her many cats. She was a great cook and baker and she always made a space for you at her dinner table. Many people will remember Nona riding her Polish bicycle through the streets of London.

            Visitation will take place at John T.  Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, on Saturday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m. Service will be at 12 noon followed by a reception nearby.
