Elisabetta Vecchio passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Sept. 22, 2023. Beloved wife of Alberica Vecchio (August, 2003).  Loving mother of Vince (Shelley) and Josie (Tom).  Cherished "Nanna" of Todd and Craig.  Dear sister of Ernestina Menchella (Amerigo),Emma Ionta (Armando),  Elio Cassetta (Betty) (all predeceased) and Edda Polidoro (Pepino).  Also predeceased by her parents, Pasquale and Maria Cassetta.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Elisabetta was a strong woman, who with her husband Alberico, came to Canada from Italy to start a new life.  Together, they learned a new language, found employment and raised a family in Sarnia, Ontario.  She put her superior culinary skills to good use as a chef in several of the local restaurants.  In retirement and after Alberico passed away, Elisabetta moved to London to be closer to family, especially her grandsons.  She loved to cook for them.  In fact, her famous lasagna was always in high demand from family and friends alike.  She also took great pride in her garden which she insisted on digging and planting by herself every year until she was 90, a strong woman to the end!

Visitors will be received at St. Michael's Church, 511 Cheapside Street, on Monday morning September 25th at 10 o'clock until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 o'clock.  Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum, St. Peter's Cemetery to follow.  

In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
