It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arlete Albuquerque Abrantes, who passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 80.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Antonio; her children, Filipe (Rosell) and Sandy (Frank); her grandchildren, Jasmina (Eric), Sophia (Brody), Roque, Viviana and Hugo; her great-grandchildren, Natalia, Dante and Lena; and her sister, Fernanda (Alberto). She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends.
Born in January 1946 in Mangualde, Portugal, Arlete was the beloved daughter of Elvira De Jesus Albuquerque and Antonio Loureiro De Amaral. She began her life surrounded by the place, family and traditions she loved.
In 1973, after the birth of her son Filipe, she and her husband, Antonio, courageously moved to Canada to begin a new chapter. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 56 years of marriage, creating a home filled with family, food, laughter and love. Their devotion to one another was an example of what true love can look like, and their bond will remain one of the greatest parts of Arlete's legacy.
Arlete was strong, kind, loving and funny. Fiercely loyal and deeply honest, she always spoke her mind and remained true to herself. Beneath her strength was an enormous heart and an unwavering love for her family.
Above all, Arlete was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her world. There was nothing she loved more than having everyone together. Her greatest joy in her later years was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Receiving their hugs and kisses, seeing their smiles and watching them run and play.
She expressed her love through food and was an incredible cook who never let anyone leave her home hungry. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter and togetherness, and her family will always remember the meals and memories created there.
Arlete had a strong faith in God, which carried her throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy built on faith, family, strength and unconditional love.
Though she will be deeply missed, her love will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - in every family gathering, shared meal, story and embrace.She was deeply loved. She will be deeply missed. And she will never be forgotten.
May she rest in eternal peace.
Visitation will be held at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, Tuesday, September 1st from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Santa Cruz, 10 Elm Street London, Ontario, on, Wednesday, September 2nd at 11:00 a.m.. Entombement to follow at Holy Family Masoluem 806 Victoria St, London Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or London Health Sciences Intensive Care Unit, c/o LHSF.ca
