August 17, 1958 – August 21, 2026
Wendy Kania, 68, of London Ontario passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, after a fiercely fought battle with cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband Stan, and her three children: Katie (Abe), Stephanie, and Michael (Sabrina), as well as her dog, Miller.
Wendy was a passionate woman who made everything brighter. She was born on August 17, 1958 to parents Aniela and Mike Dziadura in Zaklikow, Poland, immigrating with her parents and siblings to Canada in 1964 at the age of 6. She was proud of her Polish heritage and always considered Canada home, spending her life in London, Ontario.
She was invested in learning and attended Western University, becoming a registered dietician in 1980. When her sights turned to a career in business, she returned to Western in 1984, graduating with an MBA from Ivey Business School in 1986.
During this time, she fell in love with Stan Kania, and they married in 1984. They started a family shortly thereafter, with Katie, Stephanie and Michael arriving in the intervening years. Stan and Wendy embodied what a true partnership looked like, spending over 45 years together, building a life, and raising their family.
Wendy had a diverse career spanning time as a dietician at Kitchener Waterloo Hospital, working at Wardair and 3M in marketing, and owning her own business, Market Data Group. Proud of her accomplishments at each, she often shared stories of her time at Wardair, and the love of travel it gave her. She loved the idea that a new destination and culture was a short plane ride away.
She was an excellent cook, a lover of dogs, fiercely loyal to her friends, and a dedicated gardener. In the summer, she loved spending time in her garden or having a glass of wine on the deck with friends. Miller was her best gardening buddy, and they spent many summer hours tinkering in the garden.
Travel was a big part of her life, and the yearly family vacations in Marco Island, South Carolina, Europe, and cruises were some of her most treasured memories. She always had a new trip on the horizon.
Above all, Wendy loved her family and was her children’s biggest champion. Family was everything to her. The many family gatherings, barbecues, and holiday celebrations will always be remembered. Her heart was big, and as her kids were growing up, her home was always open to her kid’s friends, with many of them often calling her their bonus mom. She loved them all without reservation.
Wendy is gone too soon and will be forever remembered.
Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday, August 27 from 6pm – 9 pm. Prayers will be held at 6 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta Street, on Friday, August 28 at 10 o’clock.
