Sert, Julia “Julie”
Peacefully at University Hospital, Julia (Julie) Phyllis Sert (née Balazs) passed away at the age of 92 after several years of health struggles.
Julie was the only child of Zsófia and Géza Balazs, immigrants from Hungary. She was the loved wife of William (Bill) Sert (1996) and Don Black (2014). Survived by her daughter Theresa (John) and son Paul. Grandmother to Jenna (Matt), Heather (Marc), Geoff (Lyss), Liam and Izzie. Gigi to Mary, Vivian and Charlotte. Lifelong best friend of Rosemary Toth (Tillsonburg).
Julie was born in Hamilton, Ontario and grew up on a tobacco farm in the Delhi area. She moved to London as a young woman, first to work at the bank and then at GM Diesel. She met Bill through mutual friends in the Hungarian community, where they built their life enjoying friends, family and travel. She spent many happy years singing in the St. Pius X/Holy Family church choir, the highlight of which was singing at the Vatican. Many years after Bill’s passing, Julie found happiness and a golf partner in Don Black.
The family hope that Julie is dancing a csárdás at the big Hungarian party in the sky, where she will be reunited with all those who have gone before her and whom she dearly loved and missed. Nyugodjon békében.

Visitation at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, London on Saturday August 8th from 0930 to 1130 with service to follow. Interment at Holy Family Mausoleum, St Peter’s Cemetery.
