It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Mike Johnson, on Friday, July 31st at age 89.
Mike was the beloved husband for 63 years of Marvel, and devoted father to his daughters, Gillian Martin and Lauren Gregory (Sean). Loving and very proud Poppa to Kierden, Kate, Jacob, Lucas, Mitchell and Colin. Each of them held a special place in his heart.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Olive and Leonard, and his sister, Judy. He is survived by his dear sister, Cheryll Legg.
Mike was born in Wolverhampton, England and immigrated to Canada in his late teens. He began his career as an educator and coordinator with the London and Middlesex Roman Catholic Separate School board with a strong passion for environmental studies.
Outside of work, Mike found joy in everything outdoors and his favourite place on earth - the cottage. Time spent at the lake brought him genuine peace and happiness. Mike also truly loved time with his family and friends, golf, cooking, reading, and a good cup of coffee. His greatest legacy is the example he set through a life of working hard, integrity, generosity, kindness and unconditional love for his family.
Mike will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In keeping with Mike’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family celebration will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or a donation, if you wish to pay tribute to Mike, you may choose to feed a bird, plant a tree, or simply enjoy time in nature.
