Obituary of Huguette Marie Costello

Costello, Huguette Marie Marguerite (nee Leclair)

Passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London, Ontario on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the age or 96. 

Beloved wife of Donald (predeceased) for 53 years. Dearest mother of Sharon and her husband Stephen Barrick, and Joanne and her husband Blain Grindal (predeceased). Loving mémère to Daniel (Erin) and David (Theresa) and beloved aunt to her Godson Michel Leclair. Treasured great grandmother of Céleste, Aibhne, and Petra. Huguette is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Huguette worked as a florist designer at Mr. Flowers then moved on to Grand and Toy, Calderone Shoes, The Waterbed Gallery, and Addison Wesley as their bilingual receptionist. She concluded her career at Pannell Kerr MacGillvray where she worked and excelled in human resources, travelling for the firm to Quebec and Newfoundland to train staff in this field. Huguette and Don loved to travel to Bermuda, The Bahamas and especially Hawaii. She was a great fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. Huguette was very active throughout her life enjoying tennis, golfing, curling and gardening. Huguette and Don had great fun shooting pool with family and friends.

Huguette enjoyed working with dogs, owning five of her own throughout the years not counting the ones she had in her youth, as well as her treasured horse that was gifted to her by her father. Huguette was a devoted Catholic all of her life.  

Cremation has taken place. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday, August 7 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Basilca, 196 Dufferin Ave, on Saturday August 8 at 10:00am. A private interment will be held at a later date. Donations to The Ivey Eye Institute in London, Ontario or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
