Obituary of Maurice Joseph Therrien

In Loving Memory of Maurice Therrien

Maurice Therrien, a francophone de la regioneau de Madawaska, une terre Acadienne, (fils de feu Emile Therrien et Imelda Collin); formerly of Bangor Maine, Washington DC, Toronto, London Ontario, and Vancouver, suddenly and unexpectedly lost his beautiful life on June 16, 2026, after a brief illness. His was an intellect profoundly rooted in his love of architecture, poetics, and ideas of any sort.  He skied like a dancer and danced like a skier, tracing arcs with his Nordic walking poles in a joyful expression of joie de vivre, even while living with advanced Parkinson's. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Marianne Neill, formerly of Toronto, London, Ontario, and Vancouver; father of Anah Therrien of Toronto (formerly of Burnaby) and Marc Therrien of Toronto (daughter-in-law Jeanlyn Damilig); grandfather to Jordan Lamothe (granddaughter-in-law Cailin Lamothe) of Alliston, and Saren Lamothe of Maine, both formerly of the Lower Mainland, BC; great-grandfather of Hayden and Elodie Lamothe; and dear brother of Rachel and Lorraine Therrien of Bangor, Maine. He was loved by many in-laws, including Robert Neill, Juliette Merritt, Chris Neill, Jessu Maria Huerta, Sam Oh Neill, Hyoun-Hwa Oh Neill, and Elle Neill, and many nieces and nephews.Maurice was formerly employed at Seastar Solutions in Richmond, BC. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 2:00 – 6:00 pm at the John T.
