Obituary of Ross Edward Hull

Ross Edward Hull

Jan 24, 1935 – June 17, 2026

After a lengthy illness, Ross Edward Hull passed from this world, with many words of love spoken to him by his wife, children and grandchildren. His final words to them were “I love you and love one another”. His wife, Charlotte, did not leave his side after a lifetime together — 69 years. She cared for him throughout his prolonged illness and a day did not go by when he did not express his love and gratitude for that. Ross also had other caretakers who grew to love him, and his family will always be grateful for their love and support.

Ross was born in Montreal and met his life partner of almost 70 years, Charlotte, at a Legion Dance in Montreal at 19. He asked her to dance and the rest is history. They married and had four children, Louise (Ian), Bobby (Theresa), Ross (Rodson) and Liza. For someone who grew up without a traditional home life or family, he was uniquely involved and present as a husband and father. He was also a doting “Papa” to his grandchildren Nicolas (Jenny), Ben (Rui), Maddy (Dillon), Christoper, Timothy (Angelique) and Nova, and to his great-grandchildren Sebastian, Maya, Rhea and Daniel. He was always thrilled to see and greeted warmly by his “fur” grandkids — Jasper, Louie, Zoe, Bruno, Frankie, Annie, Benny and Crentist. 

Ross was also a dedicated employee, working at the same company for almost 50 years, which is a rare thing nowadays. He started in the mail room and worked his way up to a position as a senior buyer. He was highly respected by his colleagues and formed many close relationships there. He had many interests, including travelling, cycling, woodworking and vintage cars. A big animal lover, he was a proud owner to many dogs over the years, including Max, Tessie, Tiffany and Lady. You would often see him proudly walking around the neighbourhood with them by his side come rain or shine. A true handyman always with the right tool at the ready, he loved puttering around the house and fixing things. 

Everyone he interacted with noticed and appreciated his kind and caring demeanour. He was loved and respected by many. 

His humour, generosity, thoughtfulness and kind nature will be missed immensely. That beautiful nature was with him until the end, despite the challenges of his illness. All those he encountered were better people because of him. He’ll forever be in all of our hearts.

There will be a small celebration of life for family and friends. Details to come.
