Wester, Iola Maria (Nee Spinosa)

Passed away peacefully at home with her daughter by her side on June 4, 2026 in her 99th year. Very much loved and devoted wife of Adrian for over 47 years. Cherished Mamma of Corinna Wester.  She joins many loved ones in heaven that include dear Juliana. 

Dear sister of Silvana (Loreto) and the late Aldo, Adriana, Ennio, Nina, Tonino, Gina, Gino, Gemino (Silivia), and the late Lidia (Attilio).

Daughter of the late Assunta (Nee Balassone) and Vincenzo Spinosa.

Fondly remembered by her extended family in London, Italy, Holland, as well as longtime friends Adriaan van der Linden and the Van de Ven family.

A special thank you to her youngest sister Silvana, as well as her nieces Diana and Beatrice, the late Antonietta, Marga, Leah, Ina, Anne, Jan, her great-nieces Julia, Daniela, Marcella, and Leanna, her nephews Vince Gatti, Vince, Fabbio, Camillo and Luciano Baldinelli, Gerard, Massimo, sister-in-law Maria, late sister Leda, late sister-in-law Silvia, and Zr. Jeanne-Marie, for their loving support, as well as many other wonderful relatives in Canada, Italy and Holland that she adored.   

She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle nature as well as her sweet smile that always made everyone feel welcome. Her faith and family were always very important to her.  She was a blessing to everyone that knew her.

She immigrated to Canada in 1960 from Sulmona, Abruzzo in Italia.  She worked in different jobs that included being a compassionate care giver as a nursing assistant.  She enjoyed sharing her many wonderful gifts as a talented seamstress, passionate gardener, lovely singer and incredible cook.  She loved taking care of others, often assisting those in need that included people and animals.  She met the love of her life and married Adrian in 1965 with their daughter Corinne being born in 1966, they formed a very close knit family that enjoyed sharing many special celebrations, combining Italian and Dutch traditions. 

Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7: 00 pm to 9:00 pm, prayers taking place at 8:30 pm.  Funeral Mass will take place at St. Justin’s Parish 855 Jalna Blvd on Wednesday, June 10, at 11 am.  Entombment to follow at Holy Family Mausoleum, 806 Victoria Street, London.   Reception to follow at St. Justin’s.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to St. Mary’s or St. Justin’s Parish.
