Obituary of Irmgard Katharina Belle

Peacefully, surrounded by her family, at St. Joseph’s Hospice of London on May 29, 2026, Irmgard Katharina Belle (nee Sticksel) in her 97th year.

Irmgard was the beloved wife of Hermann (deceased 2021) for over 70 years and the cherished mother of Juergen, Gaby (Bill Peacock), Marilyn (Kevin McQuillan), and Ralph (Kim). She was a wonderful Omi/Oma  to Lauren Belle and Christian Belle; Devon Simpson (Charles Schaak), Danielle Beauchesne (Dany), and Sean Simpson (Amie Debrone); Sarah McQuillan (Brian McCormick), Daniel McQuillan, and Liam McQuillan (Laura Pakosz-Buchwald); Josh Belle (Erika), Jessica Belle (Allan Kostyniuk), Michael Belle and Nicholas Belle; loving Great-Omi to Brent Simpson, Sasha Wise Belle, Molly and Ellie McCormick, Frankie and Aurelia McQuillan, Aubrey and Clara Beauchesne, Ellie and Lucy Kostyniuk, Augustus and Genevieve Belle.

Irmgard was predeceased by her parents Frieda and Anton, and siblings Lidwina and Leo. She will be lovingly missed by her siblings Renate, Arnolda, Elisabeth, Reinhilde, Maria, Werner and numerous nephews and nieces.

Irmgard was a member of the German Canadian Club for over 65 years and was actively involved in almost all aspects of the Club: a member of the Theatre Group, Seniors Club and German Canadian FC. In addition, she worked and volunteered endless hours at many Club functions.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. John the Divine Church, 390 Baseline Road West on Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 am, with visitation from 9:15-9:45 am. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.  A reception will be held in the parish hall of St. John the Divine after the graveside service has taken place.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and patient support workers, staff and volunteers for their care and compassion at Saint Elizabeth Foundation and Saint Joseph’s Hospice of London.
