Obituary of John Joseph Brindle
Brindle, John Joseph
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly cherished father, John Joseph Brindle (MWO, ret'd), in his 100th year, on April 26, 2026. John has now been reunited with the love of his life, his beloved wife Margaret (2024), who so profoundly shaped the man he became.
John was a deeply loved father to Cathy, Patti (Richard), and Jackie (Steve), and a proud and devoted grandfather to Carter, whom he adored. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret LeBlanc, his sister-in-law, Sarah Haw, and will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is now at peace with his parents, Ann and Harry, and his sisters, Kay and Marie, as he meets his Heavenly Father.
John proudly served his country for over 30 years as a member of the Royal Canadian Regiment, a role that became a deep part of who he was. He was a faith-filled and caring man, always present for us, loved his family deeply - and was deeply loved in return. He found joy in life's simple pleasures—gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and travelling with Mom, and brought that same care and quiet strength to everything he did. He was a truly special man who will be deeply missed.
We cannot express enough our gratitude to the staff of Parkwood Veterans Care for the beautiful and compassionate care they gave our dad in the final months of his life. They supported him - and our family - with kindness, patience, and dignity.
Dad, we send you to Mom with a kiss to help you find your way to her. Donations in his name are gratefully accepted to Parkwood Veterans Care c/o St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation.
Vistors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday, May 1 from 1pm until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
