What can I say about Dr. McKeough? It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he was an angel on earth.
I met Dr. McKeough back in 2010, when I was a young refugee with very limited English and in very poor health. From that day on, he took great care of me like a father caring for his son. After my first appointment, he told me, “You don’t need to come back to the clinic; I will come to see you at home.” And that’s exactly what he did. Wednesdays were his day off from the clinic, and he spent part of them visiting me at home for over a year and a half—completely free of charge, at a time when I didn’t even have a health card.
On the days he couldn’t come, he would check on me over the phone. He supported me through many difficult days, always making sure I was not alone. We shared so many memories together—ones I will always cherish.
He was so happy when he moved to his new clinic. He told me, “Alaa, now we have a bigger clinic with wide doors, so you won’t have a hard time using your wheelchair here.”
He was incredibly proud of me when I started university, and he supported me in every way he could. I will never, ever forget you. You will always remain in my heart.
I love you so much.

I had the hinour of working with Dr McKeough and his partners at Carling Heights. Dr McKeough was the most patient and kind warm person you would ever have the pleasure to meet. He always had time for a kind word and sage advice. He was instrumental in helping me through a family crisis leading through the steps with his trademark compassion. I will never forget his wisdom..his grace and the ever present bag of jujubes on the top of the back file cabinet by the back door.

Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Dr. McKeough's family as you mourn and grieve. I was blessed to meet Dr. McKeough at St. Joseph's Hospital and he later, willingly and without hesitation, agreed to become our family physician, professionally and compassionately caring for each of us over many years. His wonderful "bedside manner" and willingness to take the time to listen is a true reflection of his selfless giving nature and will not be forgotten. As former parishioners of St. Pius X Parish, we were also blessed to have the McKeough family in our Parish family as well. The obituary speaks volumes of the wonderful man he was and we are so thankful to have known him in such a special way for many years. Thanks be to God for our faith which sustains us, giving us hope of one day being reunited with those we love so dearly. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this time. Sincerely, Tony & Stephanie Zettel & family

My deepest condolences to Bill's family and friends. I was at St. Peter's for grade seven, and it broke my heart when our family moved to Ottawa. Bill was one of a terrific group of people, and he was held in great esteem even at that young age. He already knew that he wanted to become a doctor at that time, which amazes me still. I know he will be sorely missed.

I haven't seen him for years, but I vividly remember singing with him at St Joe's Ringer night, playing hockey with the doctors' gang late at night at Carling Arena, and seeing his smiling face making rounds at the hospital. I worked for many years as a pharma rep in the London area. In a job where people are not always kind, going to Barker Street was always a clinic I looked forward to visiting. Dr. McKeough always welcomed me with a warm smile and made time for a chat. Over the years he shared with me about his family. You could see his face light up when he talked about you all. When I was expecting my first child, I remember him being so genuinely happy for me - he said having children was the best gift you can ever receive. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, That was a beautiful tribute to a life well lived, with so much positive impact. I will always remember him for his generous spirit and beautiful smile. Wishing you all peace in this time of loss.

Love and strength to all the McKeough clan in this difficult time. Bill’s friends and fellow students from St. Peter’s Choir School have been sharing stories and memories about Bill in the past days. It is bittersweet to remember his strong presence in our lives, and we marvel at how how his memory once again brings us together. Bill was funny, strong, talented, infinitely bright and such a well-rounded, caring person that we all have very personal stories about him. Even from that first time I met him, in grade seven, I was struck by his kindness, and his irreverent sense of humor. Always to be remembered in our hearts. We share in the sorrow of his family and friends.

Nancy and all of the family my deepest condolences. The world has lost a kind and compassionate soul, a great leader, family man and friend. The picture of Bill sums up the impact he had on me going all the way back to the choir school , continuing through high school and ultimately into his practice. That ever loving smile was like a beacon of hope to all who knew Bill. I remember with fondness our days in the choir school and Bill making everyone he met that first day feel like this was the place we will be for awhile. He was a fabulous football player in the school yard at Saint Peters and a great musician. I wish I could be there for Bill's send off but I will do it in my heart. Rest in peace Bill.

He was very soft-spoken, No beating around the bush, Even though I only saw him in his office, to me, he seemed to have a perfect bed side manner, very professional. Our deepest condolences to Nancy and the whole McKeough family for your loss. I was a classmate of Bill’s beginning in Grade 6 at St. Peter’s Choir School. (Attached is a photo from that year; Bill is second last row, third from the right.) I didn’t see Bill after high school but reading about the amazing husband, father, and physician he was does not surprise me because he was that type of person when we all knew him at St. Pete’s and CCH. He was a natural leader and did leadership the right way in the spirit of service. He was a worthy opponent at St. Pete’s in the playground for touch football and an inspiration in the classroom to strive for excellence. I am a better person for having Bill as a classmate for all those many years. With my fellow St. Pete’s and CCH classmates we mourn your great loss and celebrate with you a life so well and richly lived.

Dear McKeough Family,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Bill. He held a truly special place in our lives, and we wanted you to know that our hearts and minds are with you during this difficult time.
Bill was part of our family's story for more than 30 years — present through its joys, its challenges, and so many of life's most important milestones. In that time, he became far more than a physician to us. He was a trusted friend and a compassionate caregiver whose kindness, dedication, and genuine concern for his patients were qualities we will always treasure.
What made Bill so unforgettable, beyond his skill as a physician, was his wicked sense of humour. Even in moments that might have felt daunting, he had a remarkable gift for bringing a smile or a laugh that instantly put everyone at ease. It is a rare quality, and one that made every visit something to look forward to. During our last time together at his office, we shared a special hug and an exchange we will carry in our hearts forever.
The world is a lesser place without him, yet we find great solace in knowing the profound difference he made in the lives of so many families, including ours. Please be assured that you are in our thoughts and prayers, and we hope that the love and deep respect so many hold for Bill brings you some comfort in the days ahead.
With deepest sympathy and heartfelt gratitude,
The Culford Family
