Boyd, Muriel Phyllis was born in St. Thomas, Ontario on August 16, 1926, died on March 8, 2026 in London, Ontario, in her 99th year.
Muriel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank, in 2009. She was also predeceased by her sister Margaret Chambers and brothers James and William Newman.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Judy Ashton (Paul McDermott) of Komoka and Joan Ousey (Peter) of Lambeth. She is also survived by her sisters Doris Lidster of London and Patricia McLeod of Lakeland, Florida. Muriel will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Muriel retired in June 1991 from John Labatt Limited after 23 years of dedicated service in the Legal Department.
Over the years Muriel was very active within the United Church, working with the Women's League and with young people. She taught Sunday School and led youth groups, directing and counselling youth at Pierce Williams Christian Centre in Iona and in Goderich, Ontario. She also served on the Altar Guild at Metropolitan United Church.
Muriel lived life to the fullest and enjoyed being active in many sports. She was a competitive figure skater and also enjoyed square dancing and fitness activities. Quilting, sewing, and crafts were favourite pastimes, but her greatest passion was gardening. Her beautiful gardens earned her five Trillium Awards from the City.
Muriel was a member of several clubs including the Women's Probus Club of London and The Garden Club of London, which she joined in 2000. Through the Garden Club she developed a love for floral design and crafts and formed many lasting friendships.
Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday morning, March 13 from 10 o'clock. until the time of the funeral service at 11 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery to follow.
