Obituary of Gerard Lambert Schuurmans

Peacefully at home on Monday February 23, 2026, Gerard (Mike) Schuurmans in his 92nd year passed away with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Mary Alice for 70 years. Loving father of the late Brenda (Brian) Langlais of Ottawa, Paul Schuurmans of Ottawa, Karen (Mark) Beer of London, Lisa (John) Berzins of London. Proud Grandpa of Jennifer (Dirk), Andrew (Lacey), Allison, Leah (Cameron), Elise, Justine, Nicole (Corey), Eric, Mitchell, Luke (Lizzy), and Matthew. Great grandpa to 15 great grandchildren. Dear brother of the late John, (Cecile), the late Morris (Doris), the late Bert (the late Velma), Survived by Betty (the late Tom Magee), and the late Peter. Predeceased by parents Harry and Petronella (Van de Goor) Schuurmans.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kirk Hamiltons palliative care team for their care and compassion with a special thanks to nurse Jessica. Cremation has taken place. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, London on March 1 2026, from10:30am until the memorial service at 11:00 am. Luncheon to follow.

Interment at St. Peters Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Cancer society would be appreciated.
