We shared many meaningful moments at bingo, where she was a true expert. She taught me how to handle multiple cards with precision and confidence, and even then, she would pause to help catch a number I missed. Those quiet acts of care, and the time spent together, remain some of our fondest memories.
One story Julie shared with me perfectly captured her marriage to Al. After winning a $1,000 bingo jackpot—quite a sum at the time—she came home and joyfully tossed the money into the air. Al, ever practical and worried about everything, hurried to gather the bills, muttering as he went. Julie, by contrast, was relaxed, reserved, and happy, taking simple delight in the moment. Together, they balanced one another in a way that defined their life side by side.
