I was deeply saddened to hear of Tia Sofia’s passing. She was a very special lady—full of life, with the sweetest way about her.
The first time we met was in Soutelo, Portugal. I was just a young girl when she asked me if I’d like chicken and rice for dinner. Of course, I said yes—without realizing we had to catch the chicken first! I tried several times and failed, while she laughed kindly and then showed me how it was done. On her very first attempt, she succeeded. What an amazing dinner that turned out to be.
Thank you, Tia Sofia, for such a wonderful and unforgettable memory. My heart goes out to all of her family. She truly was a blessing and will be deeply missed.
